Description
This Advanced Diploma in Fusion Remedial Massage is for existing practitioners who have worked within the industry in bodywork for a minimum of 12 months. This course is accredited by ThinkTree and is a SATCC approved – completion of the course allows you to join the SATCC as a practitioner. SATCC is the Standards Authority for Touch in Cancer Care.
This course is designed to help you develop your practice and increase your business by allowing you to effectively and safety treat a wide range of medical conditions. For each condition we look at the pathology of that condition, at the contraindications and red flags for treatment and at how to safety and effectively provide treatments.
There is one day’s pre-reading looking specifically at issues around oncology, this is followed by 5 days hands on training. Each day looks at different groups of conditions.
Day One – disorders of the nervous system. This includes Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Drop Foot and Drop Wrist, Peripheral Neuropathy, Whiplash Injuries and Stroke Rehabilitation.
Day Two – Disorders of the Respiratory System & Pregnancy. We look at treatments for asthma (long term, not during an attack) and other respiratory issues. We also look at giving a safe and effective pregnancy and post natal massage and at massage for gynecological issues.
Day Three. Lifelong Conditions: Massage for Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome and Muscular Dystrophy.
Day Four: Cancer and Oncology Massage. Building on the day’s pre-reading we look at safety essentials and research findings, we look at understanding cancer and how it spreads. We discuss the importance of pressure, massage during cancer treatments, skin types and changes and lymphatic drainage massage.
Day Five. Skeletal and Connective Tissue Problems. On this final day we explore treating frozen shoulders, tennis elbow at other RSIs, plantar fasciitis, Dupytren’s Contracture, Scoliosis and Restless Legs Syndrome.
This is an intensive course, time is split between looking at the conditions and practical work, each day will be a mix of theory and practice.
