We are delighted to introduce Carine Le Breton Ah Youne as our Ambassador in Mauritius and asked her to tell us all a little about herself!

I am thrilled to become an Ambassador for ThinkTree and hope to bring support, guidance and positive encouragement to therapists, students and patients of wellbeing therapies.

I am a bilingual experienced massage practitioner born and based in Mauritius.  I studied in Cape Town and London. I had the most amazing opportunity to work on the x Springbok Rugby Team in the 1990s.  Strong hands required!!Since then, I have treated a wide range of patients and focus on providing assistance on releasing physical and emotional tensions…

It all started when I was a young girl.  My hands would heat up in a special way, I could feel the physical and deep emotional pain. Through my own life experiences, I truly believe that to be “At one with our self”, we have to bring together all levels of our being – spiritual, physical and emotional.

Sport has always been part of my life. For a few years now, I have had a huge passion for trail running. Five years ago, I made a promise to my mom, before she passed away from breast cancer, that I would look after myself.  Being a devoted mother of three children, I had to find “The Sport”.  One of my good friends introduced me to trail running.  Trail running is not flat surface, it’s not hiking.  It is combination of hills, mountains, slopes, rocks, etc.  It was hard at the beginning, we started to run on flat surface next to the beach for 5km  – it took me an hour and as the weeks and months went by, I got stronger.

I registered for my first trail competition – the 15k Moka Trail.  The race started, I had butterflies flying in front of my feet as if they were showing me the path.  Emotion was pouring down my cheeks with a feeling of peace in my heart.  My legs were in pain but I had to keep going to the end, I had to pass that finish line!!  It had been a year since she left me.  But that day she was next to me, with me, in me! I still have tears going into my eyes while I write these words.  If I finish, I will be strong enough to go through life, my life. The last turn, I could see the finish line few meters ahead.   After 2hrs 49 I was exhausted but relieved.

It has been four years since I ran that first race, and now, every October, I run the Moka Trail, but I’ve pushed myself to 30km!  It is the day I spend with my mom – butterflies all the way.

Lift … the fallen

 Restore … the broken

Heal … the hurting
