Kieran is our new SME for Sports, We asked Kieran to tell us a little bit about himself… I am the proud father of two beautiful young children. A little boy who is four and a little girl, one. Out of everything I have done and could do being a father is certainly the best.
Sounds a cliché and here is another one, my passion in life is to help people and to some degree make a positive impact towards changing or improving the lives of others. Now with two young children, I reflect more on my teaching styles, communication and self-management, reviewing the successful attainment of the desired end results. Has my son brushed his teeth and got ready on first request to? Can he introduce himself to other adults and peers appropriately?
My long term ambition and goal for my children is the same for all those who I interact with in my professional life. I want to facilitate them to a position where they are empowered and prepared to make an informed decision for their own pathways. I also want them to be prepared with a diverse skill set to overcome any challenges that may present themselves.
I place a lot of importance on holistic skill sets and personal conduct. I believe anyone can be taught anything if they are in the right frame of mind. One of my teaching mantras is to raise aspirations and expectations of all those around me. In turn they continue to do the same for me. By setting this tone, I will in turn create a positive learning environment.
I have worked within sports, health & fitness, leisure and education for over twenty years. However it was only recently I reflected on what is was I enjoyed about my job roles. And this is helping others, seeing them succeed and having a part to play with their success.
I have worked in schools, colleges and universities leading groups. Teaching, and influencing where I teach, has always been a great motivator for me. Exploring legitimate means, systems and processes to secure success for students and creating a positive working and learning environment for teachers. I have a long history of success in managing and creating curriculums in all areas of Sport, Sport Science, Sport Therapy and Injuries, Forensic Science and Public Services and achieving outstanding ratings. I have gone on secondment to a variety of institutions to offer support and advice on smart teaching systems and curriculum management to attaining KPIs.
From grass roots to world class performance, from local authority to international training venues, I have a vast experience with roles at all levels of sport, leisure and training and a passion for supporting others wishing to enter this career path.
