In our regular series of meeting some of our members, we’d love you to meet Neringa J. Dan.

“I grew up in Lithuania in Soviet times in a small town called Kedainiai. It was a time when people didn’t show too much affection. Although in Lithuania, our national character is very hospitable – we go above and beyond to look after guests, we are also quite ‘shy’ and ‘Northern’ by nature.

But I did work hard at school. And I always had this inner drive to try things. Because of this I studied business administration and got great opportunity to live, work and study in the US. And so in 2000 I moved to the US. I didn’t speak English to begin with. I lived in Florida where I studied English language for two years, then received my Associate in Arts degree at St. Petersburg college, and finished with a bachelor’s degree in management with international business at South Florida University.

I was lucky enough to have mentors who showed me ways ahead and gave me chances and opportunities to learn, grow, and transform.

It wasn’t just business I was studying. Over the 18 years I was there I was also growing my passion to help people. I also studied Reiki, psychic development and was passionate about growth, personal development, and transformation. I found myself naturally talking to people and helping and mentoring them.

I am lucky to have the ability to really ‘tune into’ people. Once I had a manager who really didn’t like me. I took a look at her at a deeper level rather than just reacting to her surface behaviour and I decided that I was just going to let her be how she is. Because I made a decision to look at her in different perception and I allowed her to be how she was with no judgement, something changed between us and our whole relationship changed to the point where she could say ‘Neringa, I love you’.  I ended up giving her a little crystal little pig with wings (the representation of achieving anything you put mind to). Eight years later she still has this little piggy and we are still in touch. Here is the lesson for you, “Change your perspective. Change your life.”

In 2018 I moved to the Canary Islands for more relaxed, slower pace lifestyle.  Following my passion, here I am building my business which is called Dragonfly Therapies. In the US it seemed like you were always working – and I wanted a better balance between work and life.

My absolute area of passion is mental health. It is no good fixing the body if we don’t work on mental health. My two main therapies are reflective therapy, which is speech based and quantum healing which works on the body, mind and spirit. The changes I see working with clients set my passion for the work rising. By helping my clients it is like retrieving what I have inside me and discovering more of me. It fires me up.

We can fix the body, but if we don’t work on the mental health there is no balance.

People sometimes ask me why don’t you study massage? But what I feel is really missing and what we need to start teaching is self-love, self-realization, and help to build confidence, healthy and balanced lifestyle to maintain or improve mental wellbeing. This is where we need to go. Reduce negative and increase positive self-talk. My clients come with many different issues. Many times they feel lost and just need to be heard. My work is to observe and listen with objectivity, and ask the right questions that help to find the answer within. Help them open up to opportunities and empower themselves.

After the bike accident

Moving to Tenerife has been great, though I did have a bad accident with my bike. I was out cycling in the mountains when I hit the rocks with my back badly injuring it.  I ended up in hospital with severe pain. Nothing was broken, but I was not able to walk for some time and had to use crutches to move around.

Thankfully, I had this healing device called Biomet that I brought with me from the US. It’s something I had been using for about 10 years as a tool to help myself.  So, I started to use the Biomat every morning. First the feeling of relaxation would come and then a surge. It has various heat settings. After 1 hour on the Biomat I could stand up. Stiffness would be gone and pain drastically subsided.  I still had to use crutches but at least I could move. Once I got better I wanted to see how it worked on other people too and took it to different people. One of them was 85 years old. I gave it to her for seven days and she found the pain and inflammation she had in her mouth had completely disappeared.

Now I get all my clients to lie down on it. I find it really helps to relax and heal. The Biomat is good to use at home for personal purposes as well as for professionals such a massage therapist, chiropractors, other wellness therapists.

Neringa Dan offers Reflective Therapy,  Quantum healing Therapy Life Coaching, Indian Head Massage in person in Tenerife and online internationally in English and Lithuanian
