Identifying your Vision
In our first article last month, we talked about the lesson we learned that in order to get people to take their health and fitness seriously, it was no good just telling them –“exercise or die”. There has to be a change in the head. So we devised a Mindset course to help our clients to think differently. And we shared the first lesson with you.
For Lesson One, we asked you to think about where you are now in terms of your health and fitness and why you decided to do something about it. We also talked about the idea of a Vision – the big goal that you want to achieve. So why do you need that vision?
Imagine a game of football and then take away the goals. While everyone might be running about on the field and moving the ball, it soon gets dull. What’s the point? After a while everyone gives up and goes home.
Are you playing the game of life without the goals that make it worthwhile?
That’s what the masses are doing – what they do every day. Do you want to be like the masses? Or to be in the minority – those who know what they want and are moving towards it.

So for Lesson Two, now’s the time to identify your big goal (your Vision). We all know that most people don’t want to ultimately run a four-minute mile or play football for England. Most of us have more realistic visions: for example, it might be that one of us wants to keep as fit and active as possible so that they can play with their grandkids on the floor or do the garden without having to stop for breath every ten minutes. On the other hand, another one of us might decide they’d like to take part in a 10K run, however impossible it might seem at the moment. Whatever your vision is: that’s OK.
Task. What’s your vision?
So – your task is to write your big goal or vision down in a notebook. It’s important that you get it out of your head and down in black and white. Once you’ve decided exactly what it is, write it on a piece of paper and stick it on your fridge where you’ll see it every day
By doing this exercise you will become very clear about why you are setting out on your journey. When things become challenging, as they surely will, remind yourself of your vision and this will help inspire you to keep going.
Looking forward to sharing Lesson 3 with you next month.
