Maureen Abson – Weleda Wellbeing
ThinkTree Managing Consultant Maureen Abson, based in Preston, is also a Weleda Well-being Advisor. She says;

“I chose to use and sell Weleda products in my clinic due to their commitments to sustainability, never testing on animal (and a refusal to sell to countries where products would be retested on animals) and to using natural, organic and plant-based ingredients that nourish and nurture the skin.
My two go-to personal favourites are the Prickly Pear Cactus hydrating face cream and the Arnica bath soak, ideally after a busy day in clinic when you need to give your own body some TLC. Being an Advisor opens up lots of training about the products which is part of my own CPD and is a great network of (mainly) women who are all interested in natural and organic skincare and in health and wellness – so it fits very well with my main work. I don’t do any hard sell, using the products in my clinic allows clients to experience them and some then choose to use them at home.
Anyone who purchases the famous Weleda Skin Food also contributes to Weleda’s pledge to plant a million trees through TreeSisters as part of a campaign to ‘save Earth’s skin’.
If you are stuck for Christmas gifts and want natural, organic gifts that are sustainably produced and packaged – then please feel free to have a look at my online shop: https://www.weleda-advisor.co.uk/shop/maureenabson/ “

She says “Our shop www.amaudo.org/new-products. We have Christmas cards there – designed by one of our long-term supporters. We also have coasters and card wallets and (soon) messenger bags all made by me from African prints many of which are brought back to the UK by supporters but some have been bought here as travel was so difficult the past few years.
You can view our new short film based on the poem ‘The Road to Amaudo’ written by our patron Jackie Kay and created by a supporter, Andrew Horner
Free-from Skincare that works in rhythm with the seasons

Rather than mass produced chain skincare, how about locally produced natural skincare that’s free of ‘nasties’.
Louise Allen runs Rhythm of Beauty and believes

“Seasonal skincare is an integral part of our self-care. Infusing natural products with flower essences, and working with the cycles of Mother Nature, we can balance the energy-fields of the body so they are in rhythm with the larger forces of Life. Flowers are a gift: unique, like us, they offer us so many virtues we can draw on to support ourselves. Beautiful, loving, protective, nourishing and abundant, they enhance our natural vitality and radiance.

Vegan clean and green make-up

“While there is some degree of choice of high-quality skincare, it’s not so easy to find good vegan cruelty-free make-up, which is why I chose to link with Tropic a few years ago. In particular, their lash extending mascara is the best I have come across (and I have tried a few, believe me!)
“For scars and skin, their tamanu products are excellent too, as is their sunscreen which my friends use particularly for their children. All products are freshly made in their sunny Croydon kitchen, quite close by. My page is here
